Veterans Report, Full Squad Practices Begin Tuesday HATTIESBURG, Miss.
All of the expected players reported on Monday, Southern Miss Head Coach Jeff Bower said. These veterans joined an earlier group of players, including newcomers, invited walk-ons and selected veterans, who reported to campus last Friday.
Now, the team begins preseason preparations with the first full-squad practice Tuesday, at 9 a.m.
"We're ready to go," Bower said. "We are excited about getting started (Tuesday) morning."
The team will practice once a day for the remainder of the week through Saturday, with each day's respective practice set for 9 a.m. The players will then take Sunday off for Media Day and hit the field again on Monday -- the first day of two-a-day practices.
Southern Miss opens the season on Sept. 4, when the Golden Eagles host Tulane in the annual "Battle for the Bell", at 3 p.m., at M.M. Roberts Stadium. The contest will televised nationally on ESPN2.
