at the Yeoman Fieldhouse. Each Cougar squad leads their respective team standings as the men
have built a 17-point advantage with 43 points through five scored events and the women have
36 points through six events.

The men?s and women?s distance medley relays capped off day one of the championship that
saw 17 athletes post NCAA provisional qualifying marks and times and three athletes break C-USA
Indoor Championship records.

In the 60-meter dash prelims,
qualifying time of 6.68 and while Tulane?s Gloria Asumnu, who won the 2004 indoor title in this
event, clocked the fastest women?s qualifying time of 7.46.
In the 400-meter dash, four-time C-USA athlete of the week LaShawn Merritt coasted to the top
time on the men?s side with a provisional clocking of 47.57. The
and Kiesha Howard posted the top two women?s times of 54.80 and 55.65, respectively.
In the 60-meter hurdles,

The final preliminaries held on Friday were the 200-meter dashes, where UH?s Garner broke a
meet record becoming the first female to break the 24-second barrier at the C-USA indoor
championship. Garner clocked a 23.83 en route to the top qualifying time and a provisional
qualifying standard. In the men?s race, Merritt once again coasted to another top-qualifying time
as he clocked a 21.22, which is another provisional qualifying time.
