Inside the Huddle - Roy Magee
Q: How have preparations gone this week?
A: It has been real good so far. Everyone looks refreshed. We have our legs under us. I am just hungry to get this next game under my belt.
Q: Being a senior, how has the season gone for you?
A: It has been going very well so far. I have been able to stay injury free so far ? knock on wood. We had our ups and our downs. Defensively, we have done a good job. We had a bad game last time, but other than that, it has gone well. Not many people gave us a chance to be where we are right now. Overall, it has gone well.
Q: Is it a different feeling now that you are winding down your career at Southern Miss?
A: I am really not thinking about it right now. When the time comes, it will come. We still have four games to play, and I can?t concentrate on that right now. When the last game comes, then I might think about it. I have too many games to focus on.
Q: Is having so many games in a row this late in the season good for the team?
A: Nobody else has done what we are about to do ? to play these four games straight like this with the times and the dates that they are. I think we will be all right. It is not an advantage or disadvantage. It is just something that we have to do because of the way our schedule fell.
Q: Has the unusual schedule been difficult this year?
A: It is unusual. I never had so many open dates in my life, or even in my four-year career probably. We didn?t have a lot of time. Most every other team is playing in their last game this week, and we still have four games to play. It is going to be weird playing these games on Fridays and Thursdays, while everyone else is at home.
Q: Who knows you better, your position coach or the defensive coordinator?
A: They both know me. I played with my position coach ? Coach (Lytrell) Pollard ? and defensive coordinator Coach (Tyrone) Nix has been coaching, since I have been here. So, they both know me. We actually get a long pretty well, because they really are not that much older than us. They relate to us better, and we have a good relationship.
Q: So does that help as a player to have coaches that are not much older than you?
A: Yeah, it does. It helps because they know the things that we have to go through. When they see us, they can tell if something is wrong with us, because they have been there. So, when you have problems, you go talk to them, because it is easy to talk to them. They know where you are coming from.
